I’m a practicing physician here in Huntsville. I’ll be 49 this year. I spent many of hours and time in the gym and exercised and really wasn’t making the progress that I wanted to make. Very frustrating. So, after looking into age management, I realized that the body – even though it’s designed to age, which is normal – but there are some things that can be done to help slow that process down and to improve your quality of life in the process. This is what made me seek this type of therapy.
Doctors will tell you to diet and exercise and those things are important. And there are some things you cannot change, such as genetics. But, you know, there is technology and medical therapy now that’s available to help give you the best opportunities to improve yourself. Anyone who has reached a point in age where they no longer have the stamina, they have elevated cholesterol, weight has become a more progressive problem, this therapy may be ideal for them.
This is meant to be a lifestyle change. You have to integrate not just nutritional supplements. You have to practice intelligent exercise programs in conjunction with diet. This will allow you to see the progress faster and you’ll be happier with the results.
Dr. Spera is very available. Part of this program, one of the major advantages is that you get direct access to a board-certified, well trained physician almost on call, which is remarkable in itself.
Suppliments are a part of the regiment. Let’s say you are someone who has poor bone density. Then you need to be on a comprehensive dietary program consisting of calcium supplementation followed by vitamin D to help improve your bones. The use of possible hormonal therapy would improve your body’s utilization of these supplements to their full advantage.
My goal was to decrease my body fat, particularly the fat that’s the unhealthiest, which is the fat around the abdominal region, to diminish this, to improve my lean body mass, to give myself more energy and lower my cholesterol level.
I would tell someone that if they’re serious about improving their lifestyle, to achieve goals that are otherwise frustrating to achieve, then give this program at least six months. The full program involves a comprehensive physical examination by Dr. Spera. A metabolic evaluation. They look at your cholesterol, your hormonal levels, all the things that most primary care doctors don’t have time or the inclination to do so.
Once you start on the full program, as deemed fit, based upon you, you give this program 6 months and it’ll sell itself.
I’ve been on the program over a year now, and in that year’s time, in conjunction with exercise and diet and supliments, I’ve lost approximately 26 pounds of body weight. And I’ve increased my lean body mass by about 10 percent, which is pretty dramatic for someone my age.
My body fat before was above 32 percent which is really considered unhealthy by most medical standards. And now, I’m down to around 21 percent which is still not my goal but it’s much better and a big improvement.
This program is for people who don’t want to use amphetamines or diet pills, which I don’t think are healthy – this is not that type of weight-loss program. This program is for people who want to lose weight and change their lifestyle the way they should, and not be artificially pushed one way or the other. You need to commit yourself to a solid 6 months, preferably a year.
The program is meant for someone who wants to invest the time, and really, not a whole lot of money, to improve themselves. But it is an investment and it’s an investment in the most important asset that you have, and that’s your overall health. |
