Frequently Asked Questions

What is personalized direct primary care?
Personalized medicine is your doctor having the time to spend with you to investigate your health concerns in the depth that they deserve. Today, most physicians have very little time to spend with their patients, resulting in patients frequently feeling frustrated at both their doctor and the healthcare system.

Many patients complain about the lack of communication between specialists and their primary care physician, often feeling as if they have fallen between the cracks of an impersonal healthcare system. With personalized medicine, your doctor coordinates care with other specialists, striving to ensure that you are completely aware of all test results and treatment options in a timely fashion. Your doctor personally assures the continuity of your medical care with all of the providers involved.

Many patients also complain that the doctor never calls them back. With direct primary care, your physician will personally call or email you. Our goal is to deliver the highest quality care while providing the highest level of personalized service.

How may personalized direct primary care benefit me?
By restoring the traditional relationship between you and your doctor, it empowers you, making you a true partner in your healthcare. You will feel that your doctor is not rushing through, but rather giving you and your medical issues both the time and level of attention that they deserve.

Are you considered my primary care internist under personalized direct primary care?
Yes.

How come you only accept a retainer fee for direct care?
This allows your doctor to limit the number of patients in the practice to approximately 25% of the patients cared for by the average busy primary care practice. By limiting the number of patients seen per day, your doctor has the time to give you and your medical issues the in-depth attention they deserve. Your doctor will have more opportunity to practice proactive rather than reactive medicine.

How do I get started?
Contact us by phone or email for a complimentary consultation to see if this is right for you.

How many patients do you take?
I limit my practice to 500 total patients as to guarantee sufficient time to provide high quality personalized service to each patient.

Do I keep my medical insurance?
Yes. Although the semiannual retainer fee covers all office and hospital visits by your doctor, insurance is still necessary for laboratory and imaging testing, visits to other doctors, and direct hospital charges.

Does insurance cover preventive testing and care?
No. For adults, health insurance covers diagnosis and treatment, not preventive care.

What is the age range of the patients you see?
We will see anyone 16 years of age or older

Why undergo an Executive Health Evaluation (EHE)?
This extensive medical evaluation is a proactive approach to both identify and reduce disease risk and maintain a high quality of life for as long as possible. The EHE provides a comprehensive assessment of your health, including the likelihood of developing serious diseases that may shorten or reduce your quality of life.

Is an Executive Health Evaluation available only to enrolled companies?
No. Any interested individual may obtain an EHE.

Who will pay for my Executive Health Evaluation?
Despite the obvious arguments for long-term cost-efficacy, an EHE is considered preventive care and not covered by most health insurance plans. For this reason, the EHE is a fee-for-service entity paid for by either the individual, or his/her employer.

What will I need for my appointment?
Download and fill out patient history questionnaire and bring it with you to your appointment. Click here for form. Bring a valid form of identification.

If I only want an Executive Health Evaluation, are you my primary care physician?
If you want an Executive Health Evaluation, but are not interested in becoming a patient of the practice, then we are not your primary care provider. We strongly advise you to share the findings with your primary care doctor. The results of your evaluation will be provided to your primary care doctors and any other health care provider you designate in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

What is Age Management Medicine?
Age Management Medicine combines compulsive attention to disease risk factors with maintaining the hormone balance of the normal 40 year old for as long as possible. It seeks to perpetuate normal physiology. It is not antiaging medicine, nor does it ever supplement hormone levels to above normal ranges.

Does personalized primary care overlap with Age Management Medicine?
Age Management Medicine is a part of personalized primary care only if it is medically appropriate for you, and if you are interested in pursuing this novel, cutting edge approach.

If I only want an Age Management Medicine Evaluation, are you my primary care provider?
If you want an Age Management Evaluation, but are not interested in becoming a patient of the practice, then we are not your primary care provider. We strongly advise you to share the findings with your primary care doctor. The results of your evaluation will be provided to your primary care doctor, and any other health care provider you designate in accordance with HIPAA regulations

How much does an initial consultation cost?
A 30-40 minute initial consultation to see whether personalized primary care is right for you is free.

Why charge a retainer fee?
Because personalized primary care involves preventive medical care and detailed health screening of adults, it is not covered by any health insurance plan. The retainer fee covers all office and hospital visits by your doctor. It also covers direct access to your doctor by telephone and email and personal coordination of your care by your doctor.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. Payment plans may be worked out on an individual basis.
